And there she sits
And there she sits.....
The house we have here is around 250 years old. There are 350 houses in the bottom part of the village, which is pretty much what you see here. About 70 are lived in all year. The bakers has been lost and so, sadly, the Post Office, yet a real community exists of those all year residents, us semi residents, and then tourists.
It's a happy, jolly and congenial place with gift shops, cafés, pubs and a fine butchers (we are veggies....) that sells fine conserves including delicious local honey.
You adapt or you die. Staithes, in losing much of its fishing, continues to adapt. We are lucky to have found it or maybe, just maybe, it found us.
