Alaska day 5 - Dawes Glacier

Morning walk on a rocky beach and bit of forest. then on the way to Dawes Glacier - whales on the way. Saw a big cruise ship in Endicott Channel and felt sorry they couldn’t just stop and watch the whales like we could. Watched 5 whales dive together where they was a school of fish marked by marbled murrelets. Kayaked in an unnamed bay to the north of Dawes glacier (we had to go visit the glacier in 2 groups in the zodiac-) and got out and walked beneath a waterfall where I slipped in the very slimy mud and got me and camera filthy - all was fixable thank goodness, no harm done. Then back to the zodiac 4 miles - 40 min -stops to look - and marvel at the incredible scenery. Back to boat and motor to Ford’s Terror anchorage - icebergs—still light at 9:50 pm when we snuck in to an absolutely gorgeous turquoise bay all alone. Steep sides like Norway.

The blip is Dawes glacier with some of the incredible rock that’s been uncovered recently, and one lone harbour seal.
