Ripening
Today was a good day. At about noon I headed to Greenwich Market with my housemate Amanda and her boyfriend Colin to grab some lunch. We settled for gourmet Chilli Sausages which were actually amazing - messy, but amazing. We ate them in the sun in the grounds of The Old Naval College while we discussed / debated / got confused about the Greenwich Meridian Line and the fact that "the place where time begins" is not actually the most ahead in local time (i.e. when it is Midday in Greenwich it is already 9pm in Melbourne). It was a very entertaining conversation that I'm sure would have been very painful to listen to.
Following that I headed into London to catch up with Hannah, a friend from my time working at Woolies back home who flew into London TODAY. As my mum gets in tomorrow, we only had a very small window to see each other and I'm so glad we made it happen. Hannah hasn't been to the UK or Europe before and is here for a 3 month travelling adventure. It was a pretty surreal experience because she is just beginning her journey and I'm ending mine - 6 months ago I was in her shoes. Crazy. I kind of felt like my capture of these berries at different stages of ripening was an apt metaphor of us in our different stages of our overseas adventures.
Anyway, we had a lovely stroll along the Thames and had a bite to eat and a drink with the view of Tower Bridge close by, which was lovely. We might have breakfast tomorrow too before I head off to pick up my Mumma from Heathrow!
