Georgetown Morning
We dropped the twins at the airport for an early morning flight. Because they are over 16, we are no longer allowed to go through security with them. They have flown many times so we really weren’t worried about them. We left and stopped along the river so that my husband could run and I could get a good walk in and take some photos. We were out for about an hour and then received a phone call from the twins telling us that the gate for their flight had been changed, but they had been unaware and so THEY MISSED THE FLIGHT!! The airlines rebooked them on a later flight and we headed back to the airport to sit with them for a while before they tried once again to get home. At this time, after sending me confirmation that they were at the right gate and actually on the plane, they are now airborne.
I took this photo, before the drama this morning, from Theodore Roosevelt Island, an 88 acre island that sits in the Potomac River between Roslyn, Virginia and Georgetown. The tall buildings above the Key Bridge are Georgetown University and the building visible under the bridge arch is the Georgetown Boathouse. It was a heavily overcast morning, so the light wasn’t very good.
I took several shots from this vantage point and when I got them up on the screen, I was totally vexed with determining the proper alignment. The bridge is slightly sloped and there is no visible horizon. Ultimately, I think I got it right, but if anyone has any tips for handling this, I would greatly appreciate it. I probably should have paid more attention when I took the photo.
