Poison (Ivy).
I know that this breaks lots of the rules of digital processing. The colour rendition is unreal, the detail is lost and there's a whopping great halo around everything. However, it's been a busy day and as I'm suffering from a severe lack of inspiration, it's probably as good as it's going to get.
Tried to come up with something to illustrate an article that I read in the Independent. Some woman was banging on about mental illness in kids. She was arguing that unhappiness is something that we all go through from time to time and, as an essential part of the human condition it is important that we (and the children) should endure it. So, "logically", she concluded that pharmacological treatments for childhood conditions such as ADHD were a complete waste of time.
Pity she didn't seem to understand that mental illness isn't just about being down in the dumps. Pity she couldn't see beyond her own advocacy of Foucauldian (I don't know if that's a real word or not - but if it's not it should be) concepts of chemical and institutional control. Pity she couldn't see that for some people, drugs are necessary and sometimes they are the only solution.
Not the best thought through article I've ever read. She even ended up by indicating that she believed that while we may not be entitled to happiness, we are entitled to pursue it. As long as we ascribe to her world view and don't use a pharmacological solution it would seem though!
Anyway, I didn't get an image to suit. Unless I bend the rules again and use the title as above. (Ivy it is - poison it's not!).
