A Collector of Oddities

This is

The Pleasance Press Launch.

This year the press launch had a fabulous dinosaur puppet from Dinosaur Zoo who chased and snapped at people as they walked in! They kept everyone entertained until the show started properly. We happened to see some of the other puppets outside before the show and they looked fantastic too. It looks as if it would be an excellent show and the group have come all the way from Australia.

Then we had Voca People, a group of a-cappella aliens who sang and danced and pulled people out of the audience and sucked music out of their heads. They were very funny and I think my favourite act.

The aliens were followed by a comedian, Angela Barnes. I wish I could remember what she said as it was very funny. I blame the after show wine.

We then had some theatre from Kill the Beast with a bit from their show He Had Hairy Hands. It is described in the programme as a 70's detective werewolf mystery and the bit we saw was very entertaining, even if I couldn't quite work out what was going on!

Forgotten Voices, a selection of tales from WW1 was next with descriptions of being gassed with chlorine, visiting prostitutes and working in a munitions factory. Compelling stuff.

Next was a comedian called David Trent who had a rant about someone called DJ Locksmith who I am not familiar with but whom I will have to look out for now for his ability attempt to hype up crowds in a hilariously lame way.

The show was ended in style by dance and music group This is Brazil (photo above) who danced very energetically whilst being really really ridiculously good-looking. It was very hard to choose a photo.
