Beautiful Clouds.

Today has been very mixed as far as the weather goes. Bright sunshine followed by torrential rain. This evening the clouds look so beautiful , full of delicate pinks and grey as well as much darker and more threatening colours. I took this on a little walk with Pip and Lula who were busy tracking rabbits. No luck in catching any this evening! It is still such a warm evening that we will sit outside later and enjoy a cheeky glass of wine and watch the bats . Ah the good life!

Farming - Topping paddocks to keep the racks under control!

It is our local Harvest Home today, although we could not go. The children however were off tonight to enjoy some live music and the odd glass of beer of cider. The Harvest Homes are a peculiarity to Somerset. A huge marquee is erected and about 600 people sit down for a harvest meal consisting of locally produced beef, both roasted and also salted (yum!) , ham and tongue , locally baked bread, pickles and chutneys and the odd bowl of salad. For those with a bottomless appetite you may eat as much as you wish! The marquee is decorated with harvest hoops dangling from the roof for which the best wins a prize. There are speeches after the meal and the event continues into the evening. Quite a day! I have a feeling that there may be the odd hangover tomorrow ! Never mind it is but once a year .
