Just Like Home

This place - the Alentejo region of Portugal SO reminds us of the Sertão in NE Brazil, where we lived for 24 years - it has to be coincidence that folk went from here and found somewhere that must have felt like home - but presumably not coincidence that they stayed there - and built houses that look exactly the same.

We went to a reservoir - Barragem do Monte da Rocha - near our house today that could easily have been one we used to go to in Brazil, where we used to swim and eat the most wonderful fish dinners. Well, this water was colder and no fish for sale that we saw, though apparently is famous for its fishing - carp and wide-mouthed bass. And an ancient house for sale overlooking the water...hmmm...

And now we are seated in a snack bar in Ourique, accessing the internet, and listening to Coldplay.
