Inside a Bletchley Park Bombe
We had a fascinating day visiting Bletchley Park. It is amazing what the code-breakers achieved during WW2, and the way they did it was really interesting (what I understood was, anyway!). This photo shows a bit of the circuitry inside the bombe machine which could test thousands of possible cyphers in about 20 minutes. (With the Enigma machine there were apparently 58 million million million possible cyphers but they used clever logic methods to reduce these to manageable proportions!)
There are more photos from Bletchley Park here.
