Celebrating the birthday boy

Hubby's birthday today :)

Started out having a lovely breakfast with our sons at a café in Essen (our daughters are still at service camp). Then I had to head to the office, but left at 5 despite getting in late (I've got plenty of overtime!). When I got home it was still beautifully warm & sunny - so we loaded the double kayak and the boys' bikes onto the car and drove upriver 5 miles to a favorite watering hole for dinner and drinks. Then the boys biked home and hubby and I kayaked into the sunset :)

Tomorrow we'll need to paddle upstream to retrieve our car, but we should have more energy for the harder trip in the morning.
