Dunure dreaming....
Good grief! Mom yelled down the stairs last night as I was getting ready to go out and paint the town grey, 'Do you want me to record Embarrassing Bodies for you as it's from Birmingham?'
I hate that programme with a passion.
'No way!' I called back. 'The last thing I want to see is a set of swollen something or others and I don't really care where they are from. I'd rather go blind!'
I wandered into the Glen Park Hotel (Ayr Brewing Company) last night for a change. The 'Yes' and 'No' beers are actually only on draught in the Twa Dugs which the Ayr Brewing Company have gone into partnership with. I shall leave it until Sunday to go for a pints of 'Yes' and 'No'.
It was a dull start to the day in Ayr. First stop when I did venture out was to get a loaf of bread to feed my seagulls! They were well behaved today and there was no repeat of yesterday. The amount of time I have spent feeding birds of all descriptions, I have done pretty well when I think about it. I'm just glad that dogs don't fly! Dogs have never been fond of me except that hairy grey one years ago in that solicitor's office in Moseley. There were a few of us there getting advice about radio licences and the hairy grey dog took a fancy to my hairy grey duffle coat and decided to try to have his wicked way with my left sleeve. Bloody horrible! Everyone laughed fit to burst while I smiled through clenched teeth thinking murderous thoughts!
Note to self - order more mealworms from Amazon next week. Robert Dyas in Stratford Upon Avon hasn't had them in for ages now.
Anyway, it was a quick trip to Nero's after that for chai latte and lemon cheesecake and the a trip on the 361 to Dunure. By the time we got there, the sun was well and truly out and feeling adventurous we went right around the castle this time and even went up into it. They'd a metal staircase in part of it so I felt quite secure leaning over the rail staring out to Ailsa Craig where I really want to go soon to see the puffins and gannets.
Go large...
We walked down to the harbour then and after I'd taken a few pictures - don't tell mom I showed you this one! - we wandered into the Dunure Inn where we both had whale and chips with mushy peas. Actually, it was haddock but it was massive! I had a pint of Guinness with mine while mom had a large Pinot Grigio.
That was it. We caught the bus back to Ayr after that. My feet and ankles are killing me this eveing after all the scrambling about earlier. No dancing tonight I think although the disco music from a hotel wedding reception is drifting through the open window making me feel quite lively! I am listening to 'Twisting the night away' right now.
Track? I'm not much of a dancer but I'd be happy enough smooching to this one at the end of the evening. It's my absolute favourite Thin Lizzy number - Still In Love With You
