Coastliner driver stops his bus in frustration
The Pickering Traction Engine Rally always has a diversion on the Friday night. Hordes of enthusiasts bring all kinds of steam powered vehicles to Thornton Dale and then devour fish and chips, beer and more beer. The weather wasn't so good this evening and some looked cheerless. The unhappiest of all in the village was the Coastliner (Whitby to Leeds) bus driver who could not manoevre his 'bus easily through the number of ill parked steam vehicles. He leapt off the 'bus intent on an argument with someone but suddenly calmed down and entered into conversation with the man with the vintage bicycle, which incidentally had a battery operated motor on the rear wheel. What the conversation was all about I do not know. I had crossed the road to photograph what I thought was going to be an altercation, but was soon defused. The 'bus driver must be a bicycle enthusiast and had to know more about this rare machine.
