Diary of an Edinburgher

A bonus on the bus

Archie has still been shaking his head and hanging his ears down, so they still must be sore. However, he has been charging round as normal.

We reluctantly left him this morning to check out a new cafe that isn't dog friendly. It was great. The best flat white I've had for some time. The soundtrack was Mumford and Sons, therefore perfectly agreeable, so JR had a grumble-free meal. It's not dog friendly because it is quite small areas, and they can't make separate rules for well behaved small dogs, though we did ask.

I think Lothian Buses management have had a wee chat with their drivers and urged them to be extra friendly to passengers during the Festival. On the way home, I got a cheery 'Hello!' from the driver. She had a packet of my favourite chocolate biscuits sitting on the dash - for her snack later, I presumed.

I pointed to them and said, 'They're NICE!'

'Have them,' said she. 'Someone gave to the me, but I'm diabetic.'

Over and above the call of duty, I'd say.

This will be the last shot of hairy Archie. Tomorrow those curls are coming off. Another trauma for him, possibly, but the groomer lets his (doggie) clients play with his own dog for a while, so he won't even notice us leaving.

Archie takes mad fits and will suddenly notice his tail and go crazy trying to catch it, then nearly falls over, he's so dizzy.

PS He doesn't do this any more!
