Treehouse
I attended the live judging of the NZIPP Iris Awards in Rotorua today with some friends and also the exhibition of the previously judged prints.
The prints were all industry standard and many were exceptional; what I consider awesome works of art.
It was very interesting to watch the judging process by a panel of four judges who were continually replaced by new judges. I guess the main thing I learned was how subjective judging of images is. Each piece speaks to individuals differently. A panel of judges seems to be a fair way of arriving at a decision as to the merits of a set piece.
As I left Rotorua, a storm was brewing and the Lake was beginning to chop up . I noticed hundreds of gulls and other birds flying towards the shore and perching on trees along the shoreline. I guess they were preparing for the storm which is supposed to be coming this weekend.
