Bring Me Hemichordates
Woke up early to watch the sunrise (5 AM!!!) and got lost on the way to where I thought I wanted to be. The place where I ended up was just as wonderful, and I got to see the shoe tree in the dark, which was trippy as heck.
We got on the Heiser to go to the mud flats at 6:45. I know this may be surprising to you, but looking for marine worms in mud before 10 AM isn't the most ideal activity out there. I am scared shitless of polychaetes. They have teeth, and that is not okay.
After Jan's thirst for hemichordates and razor clams was quenched, we went to a large, artificial tide pool to look for tunicates. Back on the Heiser after the encrusted mud off our bodies, and onwards to Portsmouth.
We finally went to the Friendly Toast for lunch, and the kitsch certainly distracted us from the long food wait. Tanvi and Samsuda and I walked around Portsmouth after to go to Strawberry Banke, but ended up just going to Prescott Park because it was too expensive. We ran into Jay, who had apparently just snuck into Strawberry Banke without paying. Tanvi went to go play frisbee with some strangers, and I got some reading done until we had to get back on the Hesier.
We passed this beautiful ship on the way back, and then I showered, studied, dinner, and more studying.
