La Couvertoirade
This place is on the bottom right hand corner of Aveyron. You can go the long way around through all the gorgeous little villages but we opted for the shortest, and quickest route over the Millau Viaduct. The village itself is a fortified town established by the Knights Templar in the olden days. There are loads of little boutique-type shops selling everything from pottery to woollen insoles to bergers bags. There are quite a few restaurants/bistros open for lunch and beyond by the looks of it when we arrived shortly before 3pm. It's a quaint place and there is a tiny museum where you can enter the ramparts and look down upon the whole thing. A great day out and even the children were pacified after a trip to the sweet shop!
