Beautiful outdoors day. Started with breakfast on the deck....no sign of bears even with food out. Set off on a good long hike up through the forest behind our house, seeing blue jays and lots of chipmunks but periodically bashing sticks against trees and rocks to make sure we didn't see any you know whats! Only met two people the whole time we were out, and got some great views of the lake from through the trees. Our record of navigating through woods isn't great (Woburn has always been very difficult!) but we got out alive after a couple of hours, even escaping thunder (no lightning thank goodness). Still warm, but getting cloudier all the time.
Home for a drink then off for a bit of an explore in the car. Drove south along the shore and stopped at the visitors centre to get some info (title here is the name of the lake that the Washoe people gave it apparently).
From the handouts we got we decided to walk down and do a tour of Vikingholm house in Emerald Bay. It was gorgeous, and fascinating to hear its history (built in 5 months in 1929 by Laura Knight http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikingsholm). Spent some lazy sunny time at the beach there after the tour-thank goodness the sun had re-emerged, before coming home and making some dinner and planning tomorrow....
