Picnic on Exmoor

I joined a bring and share picnic this evening in a friend's field. Here are some of us silhouetted against the sunset. Later on, the stars were spectacular.

The structure was a 'high table' made from three pallets strung together, largely to keep the edibles away from canine snouts (lots of them, Flash included). A fire-pit warmed us up; it's a lot higher than home and it got really chilly.

I took my bag of percussion instruments with me, expecting others with drums. However, there were no drums. Improvised drums (the water container - bass, an insulated picnic box - tenor tom) worked quite well, and once shyness was overcome, tambourine, triangle, claves, cowbell, ago-go bells, jingles, castanets and a couple of whistles all were played and did make a bit of strange music for a while! Luckily, we gave up on it quite quickly! The horses in the next field didn't seem to mind and the dogs just got even more excited.

My daughter was there for a short while, which was hoped-for (mutual friend) but still a lovely surprise.
