Redcliffe Hotel

After a walk today from Torquay to Kingskerswell I had a swim at Paignton, near the Redcliffe Hotel

The building itself is totally unique. It was built as a private residence in 1856 by Colonel Robert Smith who served with the Royal Bengal Engineers and styled his home with a distinct Indian theme. 'Redcliffe Towers' was converted into an hotel in 1904.

Dick Francis and his family stayed here every year for nearly 60 years.
