A Toad

On our hike this morning...what were we to do with a toad in the road?

What is the conduct code? What do we do with our load (back-packs)? Do we gently coax him back to his abode?

Or...do we REALLY take the low road? Drop-kick him into the next zip code? Step on him with a hiking boot, and watch him explode? Or, gather him up, and mix him with a bowl of ice cream. Toad...a la-mode.

We did none of those awful things. We left the bowed-toed toad right there in the road. Off the path and around him...we strode.
