Highclere Castle

Lovely visit today to Downton Abbey Highclere Castle. We were lucky enough to have a friend who works there as a guide and she very kindly took us on our own personal guided tour on her day off!

Not only is Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey is filmed but it is also the home of Lord Carvarvon. The 5th Earl with his friend Howard Carter famously discovered Tutankhamun's tomb in Egypt in 1922.

This lovely wild flower meadow beside the Castle was attracting lots of butterflies.
