Pine White Butterfly
The Pine White Butterfly (Neophasia menapia) is white above with patterned black wingtips; note black veins on white below; found in woodlands fluttering out of the conifers; rarely remains close to the ground; flight usually begins in June.
I have not encountered this beauty before, and really enjoyed following it around the gardens here in Roche Harbor. After yesterday's marathon encounter with the orcas, I was content to lay low and recover. It was a beautiful day here in Roche...a perfect day to do nothing!
