Pecking order
I had a stupidly early trip to the park and actually got there while it was still dark. Cycling through head high bracken reminds me of this clip of a mountain biker hit by a leaping antelope.
Anyway I survived the cycle to the lake and took a few pix of the sunrise. Met Sue who took this lovely shot then headed home. En route I passed the pair of stags I'd been annoying in the dark with fill in flash. I'd noticed an exposed point of antler earlier and now saw this very persistent magpie literally eating his way through the velvet.
The stag didn't seem unduly bothered, casually unseating the bird with a toss of its head. He wasn't easily dissuaded and was so absorbed with his tasty snack that I was able to get really close and have a good look.
