Last day for us at the Games

Today we went to Women's 75k weightlifting at the Clyde Auditorium. Thoroughly enjoyable, great to see a Commonwealth record being set and in great admiration of the strength and persistence being displayed.

Afterwards we walked up to George Square and it was here and in the surrounding streets that I finally really felt the Games came to life for me. Flags, bunting, athletes, spectators, visitors and locals all milling around, taking photos and enjoying themselves. I saw more outdoors eateries than I have ever seen in Glasgow and there was a great atmosphere all round. It's also the part of Glasgow where I walked every day when I was at Strathclyde University and so I feel most at home there.

Robin and I have thoroughly enjoyed the three events we have attended and we think Glasgow has done a wonderful job of hosting the Games. Here in George Square there was a queue to have your photo taken in the big logo, the woman in this case doing the Usain Bolt pose!
