Day 13 anyone for beach volleyball?

Back blip from day 13 of our holiday- Lots of different birds around here but this one is more recognisable as a black headed gull, there are quite a few around.

More elusive have been the pelicans! On one of our first days in the sea a pelican swooped within 6 metres of us raising lots of gasps! We also found some further up the coast on one of our walks up the beach towards Playa Del Carmen, but they never came near when I had a camera out!

They brought to mind an Edward Lear Limerick:

A wonderful bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week!
But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican?
