The Singing Ringing Tree
I was up at 6:00am this morning for the first special Blip trip of 2010 with jrc313. The destination of choice this time was to see the Singing Ringing Tree, one of four Lancashire Panopticons, it's located at a spot on the moors above Burnley. To quote from the Visit Burnley website:
"(The singing ringing tree is) a unique musical sculpture in the form of a tree bending against the wind, designed by award-winning architects Tonkin-Liu. As the wind blows it produces a low and mellow hum through pipes which are tuned so that they do not disturb the wildlife."
It was definitely worth the trip, even though after about 20 minutes my fingers had gone numb and turned blue (it was -2.5!).
I've put a few more shots up on my Flickr account here if you want to see more!
