Old or new technology?

This device was new technology during my career, but is now pretty well redundant, having been replaced by flash memory (as used in your cameras memory cards).

The figures 256 on it indicate that this had a massive 256k BITS of data (32k Bytes). Programmers had to be very efficient with their coding when that was all they had to use. Erased by putting the window under UV light and then programmed in a special programmer, not the most convenient device when it came to upgrading the software.
