From the peaks of Schauinsland

10 hour night train from Dresden, 7am arrival in Freiburg... What to do, what to do.

There was only ever one thing to do and that thing involved hopping a tram, bus and gondola to Schauinsland, a Black Forest peak within a stone's throw of Freiburg. Ski resort in the winter and outdoor activities centre in the summer, it's pretty and feels like Canada with a bit more charm thanks to the pine trees and mountain homes.

I ended up walking down the 6km to the base, rather regrettably, rather than the other way around - mainly due to lack of time and predictions for afternoon thunderstorms which ended up holding off til later in the afternoon. Everything hurts, but it was worth it.
