Be careful what you wish for!!

In yesterday’s blip I asked for some rain!!! I should have been more specific on quantity.

The storm and torrential rain started about 2.30am and didn’t stop until about 6.30am. The water ran across the patio, down the steps across the flower beds and off the walls!! Like mini Iguassu Falls. Thundering noise in the pitch black night, scary!!!

I wasn’t able to get any pictures until the skies lightened a bit about 5am, when the pressure had reduced considerably.

We were able to “sandbag” the back door and absorb the small leak with towels. There was only a small amount of water into the garage and some boxes got wet. Those door seals are brilliant!!

We were very lucky. One of our neighbours had water in all of her downstairs rooms. An army of young men (her sons and their friends) have taken away the furniture to be dried out and stored, also all of the carpets to be destroyed. The Catholic Church, next door, was complete flooded to a depth of two feet.

I’ve posted some extra picks in FlickR. We have been here for 27yrs and only had flash floods once before, but nothing like this, so worth recording.
