Wareham, Dorset: the Black Bear Hotel
This hotel is in South Street. It stands on the site of its predecessor, a coaching inn which was burned down in the Great Fire of Wareham in 1762.
This incarnation of the Black Bear is therefore late 18th century; its porch was a later addition. The hotel may seem to have a relatively narrow frontage, but it also has plenty of depth and character.
