Marathon Man

Sunday saw the start of the athletics events at Glasgow 2014, and first up was the men's marathon. Managed to get into town for the start of the race and watched the men and then the women athletes run by George Square before going down to the river-side to catch them on their return journey (each race covered two laps of the course through the city).

Even on the first lap of the men's race, one athlete - Tongia Vakaafi, from Tonga (pictured) - was somewhat detached from the other runners but, when I checked the full race results on Monday morning, it seems he did finish the race, albeit in 24th and last place of those who finished. Three runners didn't complete the course, so full marks to this athlete for his endeavours.
