Sewing threads

I didn't set out to photograph these cotton reels, I actually started off setting up a light box (well sort of- didn't quite have the right tools) and then when that didn't work I thought of all the colours in the box of embroidery threads I have in my sewing room so played around with those.

While I was edited my photos (and I produced some quite funky looking results using the effects in Photoshop) I remembered what enjoyment I get from sewing.

I would spend hours sewing (in the days when I seemed to have more time!) and doing machine embroidery - it always made the kids smile when I made them something (they thought it was cool when I replicated one of the 'trendy' surf labels on a t-shirt).

It was really enjoyable seeing all the bright colours and I have been sitting her quite contentedly, turning a bunch of cotton reels into abstract art.
