End of the Line.

Seems like I'm coming towards this too.
I had a meander around my old Playground , Carrington Moss.
Originally the rail line was a spur to the old Carrington Power station. with the odd spur towards the Shell chemical plant.
I worked on the farms as a boy, and spent many school summer holidays in the fields, (I was driving a tractor at the age of 12!) rode shotgun on a combine harvester and took the Rabbits I'd shot home to mum, or shared with the Farmers wife.
All the kids where I lived had the opportunity to do casual work on the farms , but very few were interested, or could keep up the pace.
And we got fed and paid too!

Where the small farm workers cottages were, dotted around the moss stand clumps of tree's, some of the tracks are barely identifiable. The fields are still worked and this year are aglow with wheat and barely, harvesting is underway, and there is little need for farm labour as it is all taken care of by the machine.

Halcyon days indeed.. Gone.
