Mono Monday ~ Signs.
Gingernan has asked us this week to take a mono photo of a sign, one that makes us laugh, or is unusual in some way.
The Ted Bear Tree sign went up a while ago, right next to a tree only perhaps a couple of metres away from a main road at Banora Point. It certainly caught my eye ~ who calls a tree Ted Bear? ~ and it must have amused someone else too, who decided they would pinch the sign!
So after months of no sign at all, it was recently re-erected, thankfully in time for my entry into the "signs" theme for Mono Monday.
But the plot thickens. The Ted Bear Tree, which is rather an unusual name for a tree, turns out to have been named after a man called Ted Bear....I'm imagining the jokes this man must have had to suffer through, throughout his life. I'm sure Ted Bear must have been a very lovely man, surely there wouldn't be a tree named after him if he wasn't, and the sign tells us that he donated land too. So I've decided that Ted Bear was (or is) a fine upstanding citizen....and parents can be cruel when naming their children.
And if anyone is interested in seeing the actual tree, I have added a coloured photo to my blipfolio. The morning light is a tad glarey in the photo of the full tree, so I will have to take another photo later in the day, as it's not the best photo, but gives you an idea of the size of the tree.
Many thanks to Gingernan for hosting Mono Monday throughout the month of July. :)
