This happened

A day like any other day, except that I got given a rather special piece of paper. Hasn't quite sunk in yet that I won't be going back, or that my days as an English Literature student are over.

Despite what others may say, I actually really enjoyed graduating. The sun was shining, seeing off friends before we go our separate ways... Even the ceremony itself was interesting thanks to two wonderful speakers: Jeremy Treglown and Alexandra Pringle. Speaking out against certain censoring that has been going on at the University this year, Jeremy Treglown made a fantastic speech about the importance of freedom of expression, and reminded us all of the importance to speak up and speak out. Alexandra Pringle gave a similarly inspiring speech on the importance of failure, and how we will all fail at some point, but to fail and to carry our failures with us as well as our successes, to remember them and learn from them. She said that, after all her years working at Bloomsbury, to her the three most important things are love, fun and hard work. Wise words and inspiring speeches with vital life lessons to remember.

Couldn't stop smiling. I actually felt pretty proud up onstage - this is something I worked pretty hard for, so why not enjoy it? Knew quite a few people onstage and got a few cheers (thanks guys!) which made it even nicer. Rather than shaking the hand of a stranger whilst being watched by strangers, it felt like I was surrounded by friends and family all around, which is what it's all about really. Got a photo with Cathia afterwards. Life is complete. Spent the evening in The Saxon Mill with Rob and the family for a fantastic meal. Could not have asked for a more wonderful day.
