The Great Hamster Massacre

Charlotte won this book from Simon & Schuster UK on one of the contest they have on their website for kids. She was absolutely thrilled as she really really really really really really really wanted this book. She fell in love with the book immediately. She read 11 chapters in one sitting then polished the rest off over two days, as school got in her way of reading.

Afterwards, she asked me to email Simon and Schuster UK to thank them and asked if she could do a review. Well of course we weren't going to stop her so this blip is her book review of The Great Hamster Massacre.

THE GREAT HAMSTER MASSACRE
By Charlotte Dixon, age 7

This book was brilliant but too short. I didn't want it to end!

Amy and Tom were finally allowed hamsters after nagging their mom for a while. They were happy because their one Hamster had 8 babies, but suddenly were sad because they all died. They decided to play detective to try to find out what happened.

Amy has a funny relationship with her neighbor. One day they are friends and the next day they aren't. Amy sometimes find it annoying that she can hear everything in the neighbord house, from the telly being on to when the loo is flushed!

I really liked this book and found it easy to read but hard to stop reading! The parts where the hamsters and Nanna died were sad, but you didn't stay sad for long as the rest of the book made me happy and want to laugh.

5 out of 5 stars. Can't wait for the next book.

Incidentally, last night Charlotte said 'Mom, isn't Alan Davies that guy on QI who you find funny?' I said 'Yes, why are you asking?' She said 'Oh nothing, it's just the author is his wife... I just assumed you would have known that since you're the one always reading!' Charming!
