Le Tour de France 2014

On the Col du Lautaret ascent team Astana lead the peleton (the ball).

If you were watching the stage (14) live you would have seen us from a helicopter shot. I never even noticed the helicopter hovering on the other side of the road.

The Tour de France is the ultimate sporting event. The sporting challenge is extreme to say the least but the way France just stops for the race as it rolls through the country.

Each town has to "buy" a stage as it costs them to host the race and the pictures broadcast are every much the ultimate tourism advert.

Adter the race passes everyone packs up within minutes and tries to move on - we went over the Col du Galibier which was the most frightening driving experience ever - it's a one lane road going over the mountain with cars and all sorts going both ways and sheer drops down either side.

Like Worlds Most Dangerous Roads but you are actually driving it!
