Melville Street panorama

Here is a panoramic view of Melville Street in Edinburgh's New Town. The street was bit in 1825, as part of the addition to the original new town.

The New Town is often considered to be a masterpiece of city planning, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in stages between 1765 and around 1850, and retains much of the original neo-classical and Georgian period architecture.

Its most famous street is Princes Street, facing Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town across the geographical depression of the former Nor Loch. The Old and New Towns were together designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1995.

I hope you have all had a good Sunday.
