Decided to pop out for some fresh air before I braved the crowd for the tube this morning. I wandered to Merchant Square by Paddington and found this sculpture by Jon Buck. Lovely shapes.
Had a busy day at work and any plans to escape at lunchtime were foiled by a sudden thunderstorm and downpour.
Changed at work to go onto our summer party. The rain had stopped but it was still hot. Found out that all the trains at Paddington were at a standstill due to a lightning strike so it was good to have somewhere to go rather than be caught in the crowds of enraged commuters at the station.
Fortified with a couple of gins, I decided to brave the journey back at around 10. Miraculously, found a train, got a double seat to myself and the train actually arrived on time. It was certainly worth leaving it later looking at the news reports (Train delays).
Managed to meet up with husband at the station - he'd been out in Basingstoke for the night. We just missed a perfect bus but decided to get one that would take us half way home and then walked the rest. It was such a warm evening, it was quite nice to get some fresh air.
Several moths on the wine ropes when we got home. Time for a coffee and then off to bed.
