Minder
This is Tony. He was minding this lovely old Fire Engine outside the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone. The engine was here for a wedding which was taking place at the moment that we walked by. Unfortunately Tony was only minding the engine and knew nothing about it. All I can say it was a Leyland, it was old and very red !
We'd driven up to D & J's house in Maidstone and arrived at about 1230. There we had tea & Carrot cake before setting off into town. I drove with D next to me but then J kept telling D off for sending me the wrong way. We eventually found the car park & wandered down to the river. We were early for the river cruise so waited with an ice cold beer. The cruise was good and we saw a few landmarks en-route. When we got back we wandered through All Saints churchyard & then looked a few other buildings of note including the Archbishop's Palace.
From there we drove further into town to look at a PH called the Druids Arms which J's Mum & Dad kept many moons ago. Carol had visited it too when she was in her 20s so it was quite a trip down memory lane. About 4 doors down was the Pizza Express & so we stopped and ate there. Before heading back to their house but dropping D off at the Maidstone Bowls club where he was manning the bar.
After a freshen up went back down the bowls club, had a drink before saying our farewells and getting back on the M20 back to the pad to pack.
Very hot enjoyable day.
