Queen's View
Cloudy to begin with, scorching later.
Lovely relaxing morning, reading and chatting. After Lunch we drove over the hills to Pitlochry, which is a beautiful town nestling in the hills and on the banks of the River Tummel. We went up to the Queen’s View overlooking Loch Tummel. This was originally thought to refer to Queen Victoria but recently it has been confirmed that she never actually went to this viewpoint. It is thought that it may refer to Queen Isabella, wife of Robert the Bruce. Whichever Queen it was, it certainly is one of the most stunning views in Scotland and we were fortunate to be there on such a glorious day. The nearest mountain, on the left, is Schiallion and on the right, in the distance, is Buchaille Etive Mor, which is at the head of Glencoe.
We dropped our grandson off at the Station so that he could return home to Edinburgh. When we got back to the Caravan we had a visit from our granddaughter’s parents. We all watched the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games with a degree of embarrassment during the first 15 minutes, but then appreciation for how the rest of it went – even the final drama of whether they would be able to get the Queen’s message out of the Baton.
More glorious weather forecast for Wednesday.
