Before

We nipped to the shops just after six to buy a couple of tyres for the grandchildren to swim with when they get here next week. So far so good.

We made our purchases then popped next door for a quick one, as you do. Then we fancied some oysters. Then a few tapas. As we nibbled a motley crew were preparing, french style, for a "spectacular".

So we dumped our things in the car and had an apero on the river as the sun was setting.

We came back to the main square for our main course and to watch the show. I should now point out that all the village shows are arranged by the local entertainment committee and are totally gratuit.

This blip is of the empty set during the sound checks, which was infinitely preferable to the show itself. But, having left home 4 hours earlier, it was one of those impromptu evenings that we'll remember for a long time.
