Purple Field

Inspired by carscribe's blip earlier this week, we visited by The Hop Shop at Castle Farm which has a lavender farm and distillery. We went on their tour which took us through the planting, harvesting and distilling processes along with the difference between lavender oil and lavendin oil (who knew?).

At the end of the tour we were treated to a piece of lavender shortbread and a glass of Kentish apple juice. We then indulged in a little pot of lavender ice cream which I found to be delicious but N wasn't so keen.

The lavender season is ending now as the harvest is in full swing so I'm glad we got to see this purple field before it vanishes for the year.
