Durness Highland Games

Thankfully the car wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Yesterday’s best case scenario was pretty much bang on. We’d filled the overflow tank for the radiator thinking the radiator would draw from it if it was low. We’d put a bit in the radiator when we added the rad weld, but just not enough.

The mechanic at Tongue topped it up and gave it a run and it didn’t overheat. He checked the levels again in the morning and it was a wee bit lower but with no sign of a leak. He reckoned that was just airlocks in the system working their way out when it heated up, so he topped it up again then checked it a couple of times through the day and we were fine to pick it up by the end of the day. It could have been so much worse.


It did mean we got to hang about in Durness for the Highland games. Lots of running and throwing events mixed with novelty events and Highland dancing. Loads of stalls and stuff about too. It was a fairly entertaining day out, and probably the busiest I’ve ever seen Durness.
