Highly Unsprung

John Muir Award and the sarcasm gene

Abandoned in the wilderness for 5 hours with a small group of strangers on a day so scorchio it was "breeks aff", I collected them from day 1 of 4 of the John Muir environment and conservation Award run by the Aberdeenshire Ranger service at Haddo House. They looked knackered by the heat of the day, the ice cream was warming up quicker than they could eat it.

We got talking. About how this kind of stuff will help them try and end up in a job they like hopefully. Tess asked me what I'd most like to do. I said "back to being a writer again, not academic stuff this time, but just for me". She said i'd be good at it because of my imagination. I said, "oh thanks, what makes you think I have a good imagination?" "Because you think you can be a writer!" Then rolled about laughing. Ahhhhhh, the cold light of kid honesty on a hot day.....that'll be me not giving up the day job just yet.
