Charlie at the Clootie Well

The Clootie Well near Munlochy is still festooned with rags by people hoping that their wishes will come true. Clootie wells have their origins in pre-Christian Celtic paganism but were adopted by the early missionaries who incorporated them to fit in with their Christian teachings.

The Munlochy one is dedicated to Saint Curidan who was supposed to cure sick children. Thankfully, Charlie is in full health so there was no need to leave him overnight for the saint to do his work.
