300 not out...

All this uncertainty about the move has reduced me to a shadow of my former self...

Did anybody watch the BBC documentary on Port Lockroy yesterday evening? A great programme about a wonderful place. I visited in November 2008 and it was an amazing experience; the penguins were so unafraid and curious that they would crowd around us... and yes they did smell, just a bit! I have a stamp in my passport recording my visit but didn't have the sense to send myself a postcard from the post office but I do have a letter from my cousin posted on 29 February 1959 which was the first day of operation of the Halley Bay Post Office. 1959 was the first year he overwintered in Antarctica.

UPDATE

I have just spoken to my landlady on the phone after trying her landline and mobile numbers all morning. She hasn't done the reference yet. She said sorry but didn't say when or even if she intended to do it! I asked whether the letting agents could phone her and she said yes they can... but will they be able to get hold of her?
I really don't need this...

UPDATED UPDATE
Landlady has just phoned. She has emailed a glowing reference to the letting agents. She was full of apologies and excuses as to how busy she was but all that matters is that the reference has been done!
She wouldn't lie would she...?
