I should have listened to Birdman...

but I forgot that the one and only time that Kharu has made this particular guttural keening noise was before Hurricane Andrew, a category 5 hurricane, that hit S Florida when I was living there. It was a sunny day, bit of wind, and I was madly cleaning house for company that is arriving on Saturday. The husband was out weed-eating in the yard when all of a sudden BOOM it hit with a vengeance. A wind and lightening storm the likes of that I have not experienced in the nine years of living here. Afterwards there were trees and power lines down everywhere, all you could hear was sirens and chainsaws. Everyone here is fine though and we lost some fairly massive trees but I think because we had downed power lines on the roads, our power only took about 24 hours to restore, unlike people that are still waiting. It's been along time since Hurricane Andrew but next time I hear that particular noise, I'm going to listen!!! A high point I guess would be that my fridge and freezer are really clean!
