Cooling off
What a day!
Very busy with athletes today, both able bodied and wheelchair.
It's great that the two are integrated though it makes organising the track more challenging.
But that's all it is, a challenge. It has been easily overcome so everyone is happy.
As the team leader more and more is coming to me or through me and it's great to be able to be directly involved in providing outstanding service to the athletes.
We were asked today if it might be possible to move the pole vault.
Have you ever seen a pole vault mat close up? It's big! Very big and its very heavy. Each of the 10 sections is a two person job to move. Then there are the very tall uprights. Not a five minute job to move it.
But we did it because my default setting is "Yes, now let's make it happen".
After the busy shift in hot sunshine I needed a cool down. So this is me sporting a new hat in an ice bath. At 9 degrees C it certainly did the job.
Tonight I have thoroughly enjoyed the amazing opening ceremony, complete with Wellington on his horse and cone adorning him.
