Big bold bedroom clock

My reality check, with a very loud tick. When I wake to the sound of its constant, reliable chat, I know I'm home. My pile of books await me. Hotels have a different sound, an onward purpose.

It's past my bedtime but I was given a gift today by a complete stranger on my journey home. It came wrapped in great conversation, vulnerability and laughter. That was worth staying up a little longer to think about.
